Cashback consists of the reimbursement - total or partial - of the money spent to make a purchase.
First, let's clarify that Cashback It is NOT a prize operation: It's about one deferred discount, which is therefore not applied at the time of purchase but later, through the reimbursement of the money spent. This is therefore a legal promotion in Italy, provided that the rules governing its use are respected (Resolution 47/E of the Revenue Agency, Order of the Bank of Italy of 5/7/2011).
So let's see the two essential procedures to follow.
Transparency regulation
It is not mandatory by law, but certainly necessary to clearly and unambiguously communicate to the public the methods of participation:
Who is the person Promoting the transaction and which products give the right to reimbursement;
the duration of the initiative;
the territory in which the transaction is valid;
the methods of carrying out;
the amount of the expected reimbursement and the methods in which it takes place;
the deadline within which consumers who request it will be reimbursed.
Refund process
You will need to create a flow to collect consumer data:
activate a refund request system (website or post office box) with the collection of consumer data, including the receipt or invoice and the coordinates for the refund;
verify the lawfulness of the documentation;
provide customer care to manage abnormal requests;
make the refund: by bank transfer to the applicant's current account, or by check, in cash or through payment apps such as PayPal and Satispay (not with payment cards or electronic money);
close the initiative administratively with the issuance of change notes.
Organizing cashback properly requires legal and operational expertise.
